The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has developed a new standard design for enteral connectors, the so-called ENFit^® connector. This new worldwide standard for enteral application systems has been anchored in the DIN EN ISO 80369-3.

The new ENFit^® connectors reduce the risk of incorrect connections between enteral and other systems and thus significantly improve patient safety. Incorrect connections between enteral and intravenous or tracheal tubes are relatively rare, but can have fatal consequences. The ENFit^® connector is designed in such a way that it is not compatible with Luer adapters, which are frequently used in intravenous applications, for example.

ENFit^® is the new INTERNATIONAL standard connector for the protection of enteral-fed patients worldwide. Patient safety is a top priority for danumed, which is why all our enteral application systems are equipped exclusively with ENFit^® connectors.
